It’s easy to rationalize eating the wrong stuff!

June 30th, 2009

Bailey is right, it’s really hard to be good with company taking us to delicious restaurants. One of my problems is that the more the food costs, the more I feel I should eat all of it…this is why I don’t like all-you-can-eat places. I take that very seriously! I definitely want to get my money’s worth. Maybe I would feel differently if I was rich!

Finally!

After much struggle, Frank was able to post on the blog…Yea! How about the rest of you? Let me hear from you…how you’re doing, what you struggle with…I know there are many things to distract you, but I also know that all of us spend at least some time on the computer each day. Just a quick note to check in and let us hear from you is all I ask. Like Frank, I have been letting down my commitment on the weekends, and i have got to be better if I’m going to get healthier. I hereby recommit myself to eat healthy this week…now if I can keep my strength up on Saturday! Walking each day is getting easier in some ways, but I get bored easily with the same route all the time. I will have to try a new one this week.

How’s it going?

June 27th, 2009

Good Morning! I think one of the things this challenge is doing for some of us is showing where our weaknesses are in our routines. Like Bailey said, she can get 20 points in a day without exercising, so her diet is already pretty good. But there’s no way I can get to 20 without exercising, because I have trouble “fitting in” all the good stuff into my day. So Bailey will work on exercising more, and I need to concentrate on making myself eat the vegies and fruits FIRST, before I reach for other stuff…then we’ll both be more balanced. I have gotten back on my walking “horse” (hehe), and I feel good about that, but I’m still struggling with the food and water part…how about the rest of you?

Wow, I didn’t realize how clogged my lungs have been, probably for months. Now I’m NOT a runner…I hate to run. But this morning I had to jog for about half a block or a little more, because there was a teenager walking to summer school in front of me that started out fast, but started texting on his phone. He slowed down and when I walked faster (I was just starting out), he sped up again. I thought, “This is dumb,” so I started jogging just to get around him and put a little distance between us. After that short a distance, I thought my chest and throat were on fire! Then it took at least a solid 5 minutes for my breathing to quit rasping. When I got home, I had this croupy cough that I am still wheezing around with. Maybe I should do that every time, just for a little way, so I can clear out my lungs of all the winter and spring crud! How was everyone’s day yesterday? I did pretty good until evening…that is sooooooo my worst time of day for feeling tempted and deprived. I will have to keep working on it!

Where are you people?

June 25th, 2009

Hey gang! How is your health today? How is your weight? How is your pulse? How is your blood pressure? Your colestrol? Hmmmmmm? We’re working to make our levels alllllllllllllll good. Are you marking your points? Even though some days I’m not happy with my points, I’m still keeping track of them. It makes me aware of how I’m eating if nothing else! And I have walked two days again…yea me! Come on, guys…you can do this. I’m trying to encourage, not nag, but since I only hear from Bailey, I have no idea how you’re doing, if you like it, if it’s helping, or what. I know that life is distracting but your health needs to be a focus.

Good Morning, fellow challeng-ees! How goes the battle? I will admit it, I am needing encouragement. I hope the rest of you are keeping up with your attention to what you’re putting in your mouth and recording the healthy stuff you’re eating. Are you exercising? I walked this morning after not doing so for 3 days. But I have struggled since the weekend. It is hard to jump back on the wagon, once I’ve fallen off. But I’m getting there. Let me hear how the rest of you are faring? Nancy, Chad, where are you?

Monday, again…

June 22nd, 2009

Good Morning!
Are you ready to start a new week with new determination? I know I am. I blew it big time over the weekend, falling right back into my old bad habits. That is so easy to do, especially on a road trip or celebrating (did both!). But I have no intention of giving up. I will just start in again eating healthy and trying to exercise. I hope you will all be joining me on my quest to get healthier!

Leo’s Birthday!

June 18th, 2009

Good Morning, Family! How exhausted are we? Very. But don’t let your guards down just because of a little fatigue! Welcome, Baby Leo (or Lee J, or LJ). We love you already, you little Peanut!

Waiting…

June 17th, 2009

It’s going to be a long day…eating well will be a challenge! Come on, Baby Leo…we’re impatiently waiting to see you!!!!

Wonders Never Cease!

June 16th, 2009

Good Morning, Family (and friend)
Wow, Frank blogged! I think I’m getting the vapors… We have a new participant, I hear. Bailey and David’s good friend, Chad (sorry, I forgot your last name!!!). He would like to eat healthier and lose a few pounds…I’ll bet since he, too, is going to be a new dad soon. Anyway, welcome Chadwick! The more the merrier. Anyone who wants to improve their eating and exercise habits can join us (although I’m not sure how you will share our ulitmate prize of a fun outing, but we’ll think of some cool thing suitable for you, don’t worry). Bailey said she sent you all the information and points chart, and we will decide how to prorate your points this weekend when we’re all together. Man, I’ll tell you, Frank, David and Bailey make it look so easy to get 20 points a day, but I’m really struggling to do it. I won’t give up though! I think I still have a shot at that $100 gift card! (such a dreamer)…Hey, I still haven’t heard from you, Nancy!!! Don’t give up!
